Consul General Li Xuhang Has Video Meeting with Director General of Dubai Community Development Authority

On May 10, Consul General Li Xuhang held a video conference with Ahmed Abdul Karim Mohammed Julfar, the Director General of the Dubai Community Development Authority. Other attendees include Vice Consul-General Sun Xudong and the CEO of the CDA Omar Al-Muthanna.

Li Xuhang first thanked the CDA for its approval of the registration of Dubai China International School. Although with the obstacle of the pandemic, the CDA, from the perspective of developing friendly relations between the two countries, had provided special guidance and support in the whole process of preparation and registration, for which we express our sincere appreciation.

Li Xuhang said that since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Consulate General has established a joint prevention and control mechanism to coordinate local Chinese-funded enterprises and overseas Chinese to provide community service. It also released both on-line and hard copy brochures providing information and service for the prevention and control of the pandemic. A volunteer team of more than 200 people was set up to help Chinese people in areas such as Deira, International City and Al Barsha. The volunteer service includes helping Chinese residents purchasing household essentials and help Chinese businessmen handling customs clearance. The UAE Overseas Chinese Union has also set up an emergency center for the reserve of pandemic prevention materials aiming to provide Chinese tourists stranded in Dubai and other Chinese people in Dubai facing difficulties with assistance in medicine and accommodation. In the next stage, the Consulate General will actively cooperate with the CDA in enrolling Chinese volunteers for the CDA and charity activities such as meal donation in Ramadan.

Ahmed Abdul Karim Mohammed Julfar thanked the Consulate General for its strong support to the CDA. He said that the pandemic prevention and control carried out by the overseas Chinese in Dubai under the leadership of the Consulate General was efficient and effective where much experience can be learned by the overseas Chinese in other countries. It is hoped that the two sides will further enhance cooperation and exchanges in the future. The CDA will continue to give strong support to the work of the Dubai China International School.
