Consul General Li Xuhang Met with Kuo-Hsiung Lee, Director-Designate of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai

On October 20th, Li Xuhang, Consul General of China in Dubai, met with Kuo-Hsiung Lee, Director-designate of the Economic and Trade Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government in Dubai. Vice Consul-General Tan Li attended the meeting.

Li Xuhang welcomed Kuo-Hsiung Lee to take up his new position. He commented that Dubai and Hong Kong have many things in common such as development model and development history. They are both international trade, shipping, finance, and logistics centers. It is believed that the establishment of Economic and Trade Office (ETO) will bring more opportunities for the cooperation between the two regions. Li also expressed that Consulate General in Dubai would fully support the Special Administrative Region Office to carry out work in Dubai, promote economic and trade cooperation between the two places, and provide better services to people from Hong Kong in the consular district.

Kuo-Hsiung Lee thanked the Chinese Embassy and Consulate in the UAE for their role in promoting the establishment of the ETO. He said that Dubai has an important geographical location and the potential for cooperation between Hong Kong and Dubai is huge. For these reasons, the SAR government decided to establish in Dubai the first economic and trade office in the Middle East. After the office starts running, it will devote itself to encouraging more Hong Kong enterprises to come to Dubai and will strive to promote concrete cooperation in various fields.
