On March 17, Consul General Li Xuhang went to Mediclinic City Hospital in Dubai, an earmarked nucleic acid testing provider, for investigation. He inspected the work process of ID verification and test sampling and communicated with the person in charge on strengthening cooperation in fighting against Covid-19 and effectively reducing imported cases. Consul General Li Xuhang was accompanied by David Eglington, the Director Shared Allied Services at Mediclinic Group, and relevant medical experts during the visit.
He said that Mediclinic City Hospital, as one of the earmarked testing providers, actively cooperates in meeting the requirements of China's prevention and control policy for places of departure for China, and has made contributions to ensuring the health and safety of passengers going to China. The current situation of the epidemic in the UAE is still complicated and severe. Recently, several imported cases were found on the flights to China, which have caused suspension of many flights. This indicates that misdiagnosis still exists. It is hoped that the hospital will strictly verify the identity to prevent cheating, and actively follow the Chinese standards in sampling and testing to improve the testing accuracy and reduce imported cases.
Eglington said that since the outbreak of Covid-19, Mediclinic City Hospital has provided services of nucleic acid tests and antibody tests to passengers traveling to China in accordance with the Dubai Health Authority and China’s epidemic prevention requirements and improved the accuracy of testing and the efficiency of issuing reports. In the future, Mediclinic City Hospital is willing to further strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Consulate General to minimize misdiagnosis and ensure the health and safety of passengers going to China.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues such as improving the efficiency of report inspection and increasing earmarked testing providers.
