On March 21, Consul General Li Xuhang, accompanied by Vice Consul-General Sun Xudong and other staff, met with Mamdouh Al-Muhaini, General Manager of Al Arabiya.
Li Xuhang said that Al Arabiya is an Arabic-language television news channel very influential in the Middle East. China and Saudi Arabia are traditionally friendly countries. In the past year, facing the challenge of Covid-19, the two sides joined hands to helped each and the bilateral relations have achieved developments to a new level. The heads of the two countries have made many calls. The King of Saudi Arabia is the first head of a foreign country to call President Xi Jinping expressing support to China’s fight against the epidemic. The two sides adamantly support each other on issues involving each other’s core interests and major concerns. With deepened mutually beneficial cooperation, we demonstrate the due spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership. The Consulate General has maintained a good relationship with Al Arabiya. The several interviews I took with Al Arabiya last year including those on the live news received good feedbacks. The Consulate General is willing to continue to maintain good communication and cooperation with Al Arabiya and provide necessary assistance for the communication and cooperation between Al Arabiya and Chinese media such as CCTV and Xinhua News Agency.
Mamdouh Al-Muhaini expressed sincere admiration for China's great achievements in fighting Covid-19 and appreciation for the positive effect brought to the world by the vaccine produced by China. He said that China is an important partner of Saudi Arabia. Al Arabiya is very eager to increase its coverage of China so that the special and friendly relations between China and Saudi Arabia can be spread wider. He hopes that the communication and cooperation between Al Arabiya and the Consulate General can be further strengthened in the future so that Al Arabiya can better convey China's voice to the people of Saudi Arabia and tell better stories of China-Saudi Arabia and China-Arab friendship.
