In the Tokyo Olympics, China was near the top of the medal list, becoming a veritable leading sporting power. Not only in sports, but nowadays China has also been in world-leading levels in almost all fields. As President Xi Jinping put forward in his speech at a Ceremony Marking the Centenary of the Communist Party of China, China’s national rejuvenation has become a historical inevitability. However, what you may not know is that over 100 years ago, China suffered from colonialist oppression by foreign countries for a long time and even confronted with complete demise. Who changed this situation? Who led the Chinese nation embark on the road toward rejuvenation? The answer is the Communist Party of China.
Since its founding in 1921, the members of the CPC have grown from just over 50 to more than 95 million today. The CPC, by leading the great causes of making China independent, prosperous, and strong, is called "the most awesome entrepreneurial team in history." Developing through so many hardships, how did the CPC create such brilliance over the past hundred years? Many scholars have given their answers. Here I would like to share three points.
Be committed to the path of its own choice. Since its founding 100 years ago, the Communist Party of China has been pursuing a path of independence that suits China’s realities instead of copying the experience of the Soviet Communist Party. It has created a Chinese-style modernization path and a new form of human civilization. Today, there are still a few countries who feel they have the right to lecture us on China’s development pattern. This is doomed to be futile.
Continue commitment to people-centered philosophy. Since the very day of its founding, the Party has made seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation its mission. It was born for the people and prospers because of the people. What is more valuable is that the aspiration of the Party has never changed in the past hundred years. Only a government that truly cares about the people can get the people's sincere support. According to a recent poll by Harvard University, the Chinese people are more than 90% satisfied with the Chinese Communist Party. Can you imagine how difficult it would be to satisfy more than 1.4 billion people? When a party is supported by 1.4 billion people, what kind of strength can it gather?
Strong and efficient governing capabilities. With the full support of the people, the CPC has showed strong abilities of mobilization and organization. Undoubtedly, the fight against Covid-19 is an unexpected global test of governing capabilities. China has handed in perfect answers and fully demonstrated its strong governing capabilities. The CPC has never been complacent for its achievements. It still exercises strict governance over the Party, has the courage to reform itself, keeps the advanced nature and purity of the governing team, and continue to enhance its power to unite and energy to fight.
The rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will provide the world with tremendous development opportunities. In the next 15 years to 2035, China’s imports of goods and services will exceed 30 trillion and 10 trillion U.S. dollars respectively. The BRI cooperation will even enlarge the space for economic and trade cooperation between China and the UAE.
President Xi Jinping once said: "Chinese civilization and Arab civilization appeared in a colorful pairing in history. Today, we need to learn more from each other. " China and Arab countries always learn from and cooperate with each other while following paths of independent development. The fact that we continue to make new development achievements has proven that development can be realized in more than one way.
At present, China’s fastest high-speed train is named Fuxing (rejuvenation). We welcome all countries in the world, including Arab countries, to catch on a ride on China’s Fuxing trains of development to create a bright future of peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom for mankind.
